Abdul Razzaq & Shahid Afridi dine at VIT Cafe

MELBOURNE, JAN 9. Melbourne Renegades’ international recruits for KFC T20 Big Bash – Pakistani cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Shahid Afridi dined out at VIT Café in Abbotsford tonight, and mixed with the members of the Indian & Pakistani communities, including international students.

The function was jointly organised by the Victorian Institute of Technology (www.vit.edu.au) and STORM Education Consultants (www.scgpvt.com ) in association with IPEAL (www.ipeal.org.au) – an international student welfare initiative by private education providers and agents.

This is believed to be yet another brainchild of Mr Nitin Gupta who for many years has been the primary link between the Melbourne's South Asian community and the visiting celebrities and politicians to Victoria.

Indian Voice has witnessed the presence of Mr Nitin Gupta at various functions, including Shahid Afridi's reception at Etihaad Stadium; dinner with Indian cricketers VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Shivlal Yadav at The Mughal Indian restaurant; appearance of Australian model and Bollywood actress - Salaam Namaste fame Tania Zaetta at the AISV's function at the Delhi Moguls Indian restaurant; dinner  with ghazal king Pankaj Udhas at the VIT; dinner with visiting Indian Coal Minister Hon. Sriprakash Jaiswal at the Bollywood on the Park Indian restaurant; and many other similar events.

The official part of tonight's celebration started with small speeches by MCs for the evening - Vishali Karnati and Fatimah Desai. Miss Vishali Karnati acknowledged the presence of Mr Nitin Gupta and Pakistani community leaders – Sohail Badar & Rehan Khan and then formally welcomed the visiting cricketers on behalf of VIT and STORM.

As they say, no Indian show is complete without Bollywood music and dance. Ms Baheera from Adelaide who was introduced to the Melbourne audience by Mr Anand Chukka, gave a spectacular dance performance which was one of the highlights of the program.

Mr Subhash of DS Photo Media (0430 114 282) and Mr Guru of APG Foto (0405 820 413) took the still photos while Video fi lm was made by Saahil Luthra (0410 537 862) of Dhoom Films.

Mr Winston Furlong of OziIndia Films was also spotted.
